Annual Events in Sheboygan

Sheboygan, Wisconsin, is home to a number of annual events showcasing the region’s history, art, music, food and culture. Here are a few to get you started:

Al and Al’s Oktoberfest

Each September or October, this celebration of the city’s German roots highlights food, beer and music. Lively polka dances draw hundreds, the aromas of fish fries fill the air, and traditional German dishes are served in restaurants throughout the city.

Brat Days

Hosted by the city’s Jaycees organization, Brat Days are another celebration of German heritage. Since 1953, the festival has included live music, a run and walk, family events, games and, of course, plenty of bratwurst.

Independence Day Festival

A morning parade kicks off this annual event, and the rest of the day is filled with live musical performances, food from the city’s best restaurants and the Art Armada. Residents of the city create cardboard works of art and sail them down river to compete for awards. The festivities end with a fireworks display over the waters of Lake Michigan.

Fiesta Hispana

The city’s Spanish culture is celebrated each year in Kiwanis Park during this two-day event every July. Tejano and Mexican tunes can be heard throughout the park, a car show boasts street racers and classic American rides, and visitors can enjoy treats like fried ice cream, empanadas and tacos.

Midsummer Festival of the Arts

For nearly 50 years, hundreds of artists have come to the city to display their creative works, including paintings, jewelry, pottery, sculpture and more. Visitors can peruse the tents housing artwork for one weekend each July, and the festival also includes live entertainment.

Greek Festival

Costumed dancers, authentic Greek foods and family-friendly activities await visitors at this popular festival held each June at Deland Park. Food takes center stage, and attendees can feast on everything from gyros and spinach pies to sweet treats like baklava, honey puffs and traditional pastries.
